What the Checklist Covers

Eleven sections to review before applying, responding to a recruiter, accepting an offer, or sharing personal information.

Job Listing Red Flags

Vague titles, unrealistic pay, unclear duties, spelling issues, and posts that sound too easy.

Company Legitimacy

Does the company have an official website, a careers page, and a consistent online presence?

Recruiter Emails & Messages

Suspicious addresses, lookalike domains, pressure tactics, and requests to move to WhatsApp or Telegram.

Interview Process

Too fast, text-only, or hired without a normal process? These are signs to pause and verify.

Money, Checks & Equipment

Fake checks, gift cards, training fees, equipment purchases, or requests to move money.

Personal Information

When to be careful sharing your SSN, bank details, ID, passwords, or verification codes.

Red-Flag Score System

Count warning signs to decide whether to research more, slow down, or stop communication entirely.

⚠️ FROM THE CHECKLIST

3 Questions to Ask Before You Trust a Remote Job

Is the job posted on the company's official careers page?

Scammers copy real company names. Always verify the listing directly on the company's website — not just the link they sent you.

Is the recruiter using a real company email — not Gmail, Yahoo, or a lookalike domain?

Free email accounts and slightly misspelled company domains are some of the most common scam signals. A real recruiter email matches the company's official website.

Are they asking you to pay money, deposit a check, buy equipment, or send funds?

Pause immediately. Legitimate employers do not ask you to pay money in order to get paid. The FTC calls this one of the clearest signs of a scam.

Once a Week, You Hear From Me

I send one email per week — no more. It usually includes a beginner remote job tip, a scam warning I've seen circulating, or a resource I've personally looked into. I know how overwhelming inboxes get, and I'm not here to add to that.

You Can Leave Anytime — No Questions Asked

Every email I send has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. Click it once, and you're off my list permanently. I'm building this on trust, not on trapping people. If it's not useful to you, leaving should be easy — and it is.
